- Personal statement
I have worked as a lecturer/ support worker for the past 30 years. During this time in Further and Higher Education there has been emphasis on providing care for students with a range of mental health issues. These have included acute Depression and anxiety and Autism. Successful intervention has meant, in most cases they have been able to complete their courses.
In addition I have supported an elderly lady from the Italian community. This involved collection of her medication and liaison with her Doctors. I also assisted with her shopping, dog walking, cooking and cleaning.
Care has also been provided for a relative with Lupus. This involved the duties described above together with accompanying her on shopping trips and visits to her doctors.
At present I am a re-enablement worker for a client with mental health issues. This mainly involves assisting with his finance and providing prompts so that certain domestic and personal tasks are under taken.
