- Description
We are looking at a variety of placements to suit different students who face massive trying to enter the job market.
Work experience gives them a head start, but unfortunately less than 6% even get offered a work placement.
As our students are still in education, we would be looking at one day per week or two half days (to be arranged between the employer and the college) for period of between two and twelve weeks throughout the academic year. Our students will be ‘work ready ‘and the college undertakes a due diligence/health and safety module for them. They will also be fully supported by a job coach during their time with the employer until they gain confidence, hopefully coming one step closer to supported internship, apprenticeship, and the ultimate goal of paid employment.
This scheme is fully funded by the Department for Education and comes at no risk or cost to the employer. Staff will also be offered support (if required) on the best way to include and support someone with a learning disability. Employing someone with a learning disability can add real value to the workplace culture.
Placements are clearly of benefit to young people, giving them real life experience, new skills and a broader view of job opportunities.
