Thorpe Extended Nursery Class
This setting offers places for both 15 and 30 Hours Free Funding
Opened Jul 2001. Ofsted registered and accepts 15 and 30 hours Early Years Education Funding . All children aged 3-4 years of age are entitled to 15 hours free childcare. We offer morning and afternoon sessions, you can choose which sessions fit in best with you as long as we have space. If you choose, your child can stay to lunch and be picked up at 12:30 pm. Alternatively you can bring them in at 11:30 am and they can stay for lunch and have the afternoon session afterwards (price is currently £3.00 for a lunchtime session for the child care).
We also offer the 30 hours free childcare funding. Applications for the additional hours must be made to HMRC online at www.gov.uk. If you are successful, you will be issued with a code which you must provide to your chosen childcare provider.
Thorpe Nursery follows the Early Years Curriculum which is taught by a qualified teacher. We introduce maths using Numicon and we teach early sound and writing skills. There is a strong emphasis on play with lots of access to the outdoor area. The children get used to the main school, such as using the field, the Environmental area, and the hall, as well as the Reception class towards the summer. If a child has any special needs, they are able to be identified and supported at an early age.
Once children have entered Nursery, all children are tracked to ensure they achieve the best possible progress.
On School site. Happy to accept Employer Childcare vouchers.

All Nursery children have the option of going to Breakfast Club from 7:45am onwards at a cost of £1.50 per child.
We offer a wide choice of breakfast for the children from our school kitchen; they will have a choice of cereal, toast or yogurt with a drink of orange or milk. We also add in some variety, by bringing in crumpets, or muffins or croissants on a rotational basis.
The children are offered a choice of activities for the duration of the club. They could enjoy board games or colouring and drawing.
All Nursery children are involved in school Sports Day and they perform for parents in their own Christmas production.
As parents you will get regular parents meeting to discuss your child’s progress. You will have access to your child’s record of achievements via the internet site Tapestry.
