221
221 is a self help group committed to helping people who are finding it hard to cope with their broken relationship and all the difficulties that they have to face.
It is run by volunteers and is committed to helping people through the trauma of divorce.
For many couples, divorce can be a mutual and considered agreement, but for the vast majority, the break-up of a marriage comes as a shock which causes intense mental anguish and has a devastating effect on the family.
We are here to listen and support.
We provide a phone line for those urgent times when you simply need to talk to someone.
We open monthly drop-in centres (Coffee Spot) offering a chance to talk and meet with others in similar situations.
Through our group social activities, we offer regular meetings, companionship and encouragement to help regain confidence and self esteem.
We run courses - 'Recovering from Divorce'.
Talking together with people who really understand the situation you are in, is a great comfort and can be a lifeline.
We understand the trauma of separation and divorce; everyone at 221 has experienced divorce themselves and we know the challenging issues that cause so much distress.
We know that it takes time to regain confidence, get used to being single again and feel motivated enought to move on.
We provide a safe and confidential environment to aid recovery. Loneliness and loss of a social circle is a very common result of a broken marriage/partnership and creating a new life as a single person is daunting. At 221 we provide opportunities to meet up with friends for meals, walks, cinema etc.
NB Run by volunteers, we do not provide professional advice or counselling.
We are not a dating agency.
