
Peterborough Health Visiting Service
We offer the Healthy Child Programme Universally across a minimum of 5 mandated contacts (Antenatal, 10-14 days, 6-8 weeks, 1year and 2-2.5yrs). We also offer a rapid response when a family/parent/carer needs specific expert help, for example postnatal depression, general parenting support and advice – behaviour, tantrums, potty training, a sleepless baby, infant feeding, breast feeding support, weaning, healthy eating, minor illness/childhood infections, common skin problems and safety in the home.
Health Visiting supports the safeguarding of children alongside other professionals
We run weekly child health clinics accessible to all.
Baby cafes – support for breast feeding mothers
Additionally we provide ongoing support alongside other professionals/services where there are identified complex health needs.

Health visitors work within 3 localities across Peterborough Unitary Authority. We see families in their own homes, in Early Years settings, in community clinics , in GP Surgeries and in childrens centres.

We are a Universal Service.
All preschool children will have a named Health Visiting Team. Access to the service is via notification from maternity services of a new birth or a transfer in to Peterborough via GP surgeries.
