One person in six has poor literacy. This means they can’t succeed at school, are locked out of the job market, can’t support their child’s learning and struggle with daily tasks such as filling in forms or reading labels on food packaging.

We are an independent charity dedicated to raising literacy levels in the UK. Our research and analysis make us the leading authority on literacy. We run projects in the poorest communities, campaign to make literacy a priority for politicians and parents, and support schools.

The National Literacy Trust Hub in Peterborough is branded the Peterborough Literacy Campaign. A range of partners work together to promote reading and writing, and improve literacy levels in the city.

The campaign focuses on ensuring children are ready to start school and improving the transition between primary and secondary school to improve pupils’ literacy.
