POTSS is working closely with the Ormiston Trust service to provide an Emotional Wellbeing program for young people.
Our aims are to:
- Increase the capacity of parents and carers in Peterborough to meet the needs of their older children
- Strengthen the confidence of parents and carers to meet new challenges
- Promote support networks of parents of older children in the community
- Strengthen resilience, and improve communication skills for teenagers within the families where needed
We will do this through:
- Focused individually planned support to families experiencing difficulties with teenagers
- Working with young people within the family where the need is identified
- Surgeries/drop ins/workshops at specific identified locations to increase access to support for parents on specific parenting tools such as communicating with teenagers, and negotiation
- Initial telephone support/consultation to families, and referral and liaison to other services where the need is identified
- Providing places on Relate's Living with Teenagers group - the groups will be offered at a range of different times to accommodate as many different lifestyles as possible
- Individual couple counseling or whole family counseling through Relate
