Peterborough Foodbank COVID-19

Peterborough Foodbank

Coronavirus update:

20th March 2020

During this current season we just want to re-assure everybody that we plan to stay open if we can.

Peterborough Foodbank provides an essential emergency service for people unable to afford food. We do not have the capacity to provide food to people who can afford to buy the essentials but are self-isolating and have issues accessing food as a result. People self-isolating who can afford to buy food but cannot leave their homes should contact their local council for advice.

Peterborough Foodbank provides 3 days worth of emergency food to families in crisis who have been referred. Reasons for referral to the foodbank can include redundancy, delay in receiving benefits, illness or a sudden bill coming in which means choosing between paying the bill or providing food for the family.

In addition to the food, our volunteers provide signposting support to try to address the underlying problem of why the person is in need of a food parcel. We also provide a listening ear, a cup of tea and a chance to chat. We are here to help and will offer prayer for those that want it. We have 9 foodbank distribution centres around the city, where the client can redeem their voucher for their food parcel. We have a centre open every day of the week except Sunday.

We are now operating from Dogsthorpe Methodist Church, Birchtree Avenue, Peterborough.

Monday to Saturday 11.00am-1.00pm.
