Cross Keys Homes
At our core, Cross Keys Homes is a landlord. We are also a not-for-profit charity with 350-plus staff. We manage around 10,000 properties with a variety of tenures, including social housing, shared ownership, private rent and leasehold.
We are also committed to building more homes, to help to address the housing crisis. To date we have built 1,000 and are now embarking on a major development programme which will see over 500 new homes built per year by 2018. In 2014 we issued the housing sector’s first ‘green’ bond. Most of the £150m raised will be used to support the ambitious expansion of Cross Keys Homes’ development programme. Plus we have an initial allocation of £1.3million from the Homes and Communities Agency to help us to reach our targets.
But we are also much more than just a landlord. We are a key community player committed to delivering excellent and customer-focused services 100 per cent of the time.
We are committed to improving the neighbourhoods for our own tenants and the wider population. We take a leading role in a number of community projects, including the Safer Peterborough Partnership and the Tackling Worklessness in Peterborough consortium. We encourage people to get into employment by offering practical help, job clubs, one to one support and the chance to gain qualifications. Plus we support 18-24 year olds taking that first step into work with our pre-Apprentice and Apprentice schemes.
We also lease 72 shops across the city, providing premises for small business and keeping community facilities alive. Plus we are also the city’s largest provider of independent living, offering a range of services from the Lifeline emergency alarm through community care and sheltered housing to our extra care scheme, Kingfisher Court, helping people to stay safe in their own homes.
Cross Keys also provides a community alarm service known as Lifeline to vulnerable people living within a 50-mile radius of Peterborough.
