Peterborough Youth Choir

Peterborough Voices is a new women's choir of over 120 singers. It was formed in May 2011 after the "Sing for Life" project, where Peterborough Male Voice Choir were asked to help set up a women's choir.  The project team hoped to recruit 40 women to form a choir and to perform in concert in aid of Cancer Research.

Peterborough Youth Choir has been set up by Peterborough Male Voice Choir to give children and young people an opportunity to perform with them in large scale, prestigious concerts with well-known singing stars and to be able to learn singing skills free of charge.

Peterborough Youth Choir is aimed at young people aged 7 – 24. The choir is based at St Mary's Church, New Road, Peterborough PE1 1TT.

Choir rehearsals are on Wednesday afternoons, from 4.00pm – 5.30pm.

PYC is being managed and funded by Peterborough Male Voice Choir. There are no membership fees. The Musical Director is William Prideaux. The group will also benefit from the considerable skills and expertise of the trustees of Peterborough Male Voice Choir. The young people will be supervised at all times by chaperones with Enhanced CRB Clearance.

The Youth Choir now has around 80 members, and we have begun a new project, aiming to double the choir membership over the year.  We are looking to work with Primary Schools in the Peterborough area, to bring choral singing workshops into the school and to encourage young people to take part in the pleasure of learning to sing in a choir.
