Longthorpe Tower

Vivacity gave notice to the council on 18 June 2020 that it is unable to deliver the current contract due to lockdown and COVID-19 restrictions - and this began a 90 day period to manage the transition.  Peterborough City Council has begun a review of all services to consider how they might be delivered in the future – either by the council alone, or in partnership with others.

Longthorpe Tower is one of Peterborough’s historic gems.

It is the 14th Century tower of a surviving part of a 14th-century fortified Manor House.

Longthorpe Tower displays one of the most complete and important sets of 14th-century domestic wall paintings in northern Europe, giving a rare insight into the medieval mind.

This varied 'spiritual encyclopaedia' of worldly and religious subjects includes the Wheel of Life, the Nativity and King David.

Longthorpe Tower is owned by English Heritage but is managed by Vivacity Peterborough Culture and Leisure.

It is open Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays from Easter until the end of October, 10am – 4pm daily (last admission 3.30pm).

Pre-booked groups and school parties will be able to view the Tour at other times by prior arrangement.
