The Armed Forces Covenant

THE ARMED FORCES COVENANT

The Covenant is a promise between the nation, the government and the Armed Forces community, ensuring that those who serve, and have served, in the Armed Forces and their families, are treated fairly and are not disadvantaged by their service.

The community covenant signed by Cambridgeshire Local Authorities in 2011 is our commitment to our Armed Forces Community.

The Covenant covers all serving personnel, regular and reservists, and their families. Bereaved families, veterans and cadet adult volunteers.

The covenant promotes fair access to a wide range of services from;

· Education

· Housing

· Health

· Mental Health

· Employment

· Transition

· Family support

· Criminal Justice

· Welfare

· Community and support to tackle Social Isolation

The Veterans' Gateway App

The Veterans’ Gateway app helps veterans find support organisations in their area using their smartphone or tablet. These organisations cover both the Armed Forces sector and wider charity and not-for-profit sectors.

Based on your location, you can access the support you need with finances, housing, employment, relationship, physical and mental health, and more.

The directory, which is intuitive and easy to use, groups all NHS facilities across the country, and over 2,000 charitable organisations. You can either use the map tool to look for organisations in your area, or search by name, post code, or descriptive words (e.g. financial support).

The Veterans’ Gateway app is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
