Peterborough Women's Aid - (also now known as SASP – Specialist Abuse Services Peterborough offer help to men as well).

Peterborough Women's Aid

Peterborough Women's Aid aims to relieve the distress and trauma experienced by women and their children, if any, who have been affected by their domestic violent situations.

Women's Aid is committed to the principles of self help and self determination; we encourage women to seek advice, information, support or refuge to determine their own futures.

We provide safe temporary accommodation for women and their children, who are experiencing domestic violence/abuse.

Our resettlement and aftercare service is designed to support women and children in the process involved in moving into local accommodation.

Through our Children’s Services we aim to identify and endeavour to meet the emotional and educational needs of children within the refuge. We provide a range of play sessions and activities for children and young people

The Freedom Programme runs for 10-12 sessions. Informal meetings are held each week exploring different issues relating to domestic violence.

The objectives of the Outreach Service are to provide advice and support, either by telephone or face to face, to all women who request it; to facilitate advice and support sessions at various community venues across Peterborough.

The Respectful Relationships Programme - We work in partnership with individual schools and encourage them to take part in the programme to enable them to support children who have experienced domestic abuse.

We constantly promote public awareness of the issues relating to domestic abuse locally and nationally.
