Home visiting - East Cambs & Fenland

Home visiting can be offered as part of Early Support to children and families by SEND Specialist Services practitioners*. Home visiting provides practical support and strategies for families to help their child's learning and development. This is usually for a specific period of time to provide early intervention and readiness for starting at an early years setting or school. Home visiting is highly in demand and targeted support may be time limited. Home visiting aims to provide
  • activities and ways to help your child learn in small achievable steps using a Portage style approach
  • improving your child’s social communication, interaction and play skills
  • supporting parents to use approaches in their daily life
  • Support for children from the home into an early years setting
Children accepted into Early Support may be offered a place at Support for Learning groups before or after a period of home visiting. The groups continue to give parents access to specialist support and links to other parents of children with SEND. (*Previously known as Portage workers or SCoT workers).
