Turning Point - Cambridgeshire & Peterborough

Turning Point Cambridgeshire and Peterborough

Starting from Monday 30th October, Turning Point’s ‘Out & About Peterborough’ will begin providing community-based outreach support so that people with learning disabilities can learn new skills, take part in leisure activities they enjoy, and live as independently as possible.

Out & About Peterborough will also provide respite support 24 hours a day, seven days a week, offering a comprehensive assessment to ensure the best support is provided.

Derek Wood said: “We are offering people to take part in activities of their choice whenever it suits them – we want to give people the opportunity to develop their skills and interests so that they can work towards living independently and ultimately lead fulfilling lives. This might include learning about how to budget, healthy eating and fitness, gaining employment, and volunteering or it could mean people can go to the movies on a Saturday evening or go to the pub for lunch on a Sunday. We just want to ensure people have the support they need in order to access their community.”

Support can be on a one-to-one basis, or as part of a small group.
