Stroke Association Peterborough COVID-19 support

About this service

Peterborough Stroke Recovery Service provides practical advice, emotional support and high-quality information following a stroke. Whether you are a stroke survivor, carer or family member, we will work with you to identify and address your physical needs through a personalised plan, and support you to rebuild your life after stroke.

This service offers:

  • Coordinated support throughout your stroke journey
  • Home visits and/or regular telephone calls
  • Leaflets, factsheets and information about Life After Stroke Grants and benefits
  • Help with returning to work, if required
  • Assistance with accessing local leisure, social activities and self-management tools
  • Support for carers
  • Signposting to other organisations that could help.

Who is this service for?

This service is for stroke survivors (including TIAs/mini-strokes), and families and carers of people affected by stroke, living in Peterborough.

Stroke information programme

This programme is aimed at stroke survivors and carers to help them access information around some of the most common questions/topics people need further support with.

The Stroke Association’s stroke information programme which will run for 12 sessions starting on 2/3/21 and finishing 8 April 2021.

Stroke Asssociation support services

Stroke Asssociation support services help hundreds of thousands of people through one of the most frightening experiences of their lives and build a life after stroke. Their support services include but are not limited to emotional support, communication support, exercise-based rehabilitation. 

Coronavirus update 14/4/2020

The Stroke Association Peterborough are continuing to run their Stroke Recovery and Communication Support service, albeit via a modified delivery method.

Stroke survivors and carers are being supported via telephone and e-mail, and they are running online support groups using Zoom. In addition, stroke survivors can access the Stroke Association’s self-help tool My Stroke Guide for self-management.

The service is continuing to run during the usual opening hours of 9am-5pm Monday-Thursday.
