CTC Cycling Club

CTC Cycling Club

Peterborough’s sociable CTC cycling club organises rides on quiet routes in Cambridgeshire, Rutland, Northants, and Lincs led by experienced Ride Leaders.

Get on your bike and explore the country lanes in a friendly group at a social/conversational pace.

Non-CTC members are welcome and can join on three rides before deciding to join CTC.

At CTC Peterborough they have fun taking their cycling seriously but they don’t do any competitive rides so are never in training for anything.

This means the rides tend to be slower than most other cycling clubs’.

However, they still ride some challenging routes so cycling with them is a great way to build fitness.

The average pace at weekends is around 12-13mph but if anyone is struggling or having a bad day the experienced Ride Leaders will slow the ride down to your pace.

At CTC Peterborough nobody is ever left behind!

The rides usually start from Orton Mere, in the circular car park.

If they are heading North and want to keep the ride distance down, they start from Glinton – outside Arthur Mellows Village College.

Similarly, if they are going South they might start from Norman Cross (in the main car park behind the Premier Inn).

If you want to add some miles to the day you can ride to the start but no one will object if you take the car and all of the start locations have free parking.

Plus there are no height restrictions for any of the car parks so you needn’t worry if you carry your bike on the roof of your car.

Please arrive a few minutes before the ride is due to start.

If you are new please make yourself known to the Ride Leader who will ask you to complete a guest form which means everyone’s covered on our insurance for the ride.

Riders are expected to:-

  • Attend a ride that’s suitable for their abilities and aspirations. Our rides are Graded but if you are still not sure, please talk to the Ride Leader
  • Register with the Ride Leader in advance of the ride
  • Have a serviceable bike, with means to repair their own punctures
  • Be dressed appropriately for the prevailing weather conditions
  • Ride safely and within the Highway Code, being ever-mindful of the safety of their fellow riders
  • Respect the decisions and guidance of the ride leader
  • Inform the Ride Leader if they plan to leave the ride before the end
