Starlight Children’s Foundation is a national children’s charity that is dedicated to brightening the lives of children and teenagers suffering from a serious or terminal illness. We have been working for over 30 years to support sick children and their families because we know the difference happiness and laughter can make during times when it feels like there’s not much to look forward to.
We do this through our extensive hospital entertainment and wish granting programmes. These programmes are based on positive psychology and offer distraction at a time when young people and families are at their most vulnerable. Every year we help over half a million children to look beyond their illnesses and show them the possibilities of life.
How we help
Starlight supports seriously and terminally ill children across the UK by granting wishes-of-a-lifetime and by providing a variety of entertainment and distraction in and out of hospitals and hospices. All our services and activities are aimed at distracting children from the pain, fear and isolation they can often feel as a result of their illnesses. A little fun and distraction can go a long way and help brighten even the darkest days.
Starlight helps over 500,000 children every year who are hospitalised for whatever reason by offering a host of activities including:
Starlight Fun Centres
Starlight Distraction Boxes
