Burns Night Supper

Burns Night Supper

This traditional Burns Night celebration will be complete with a Scottish piper, Scottish dancers, a live ceilidh band and caller.

The evocative sound of the bagpipes will greet you as you arrive for pre-supper drinks in the beautiful South Transept of the Cathedral, just a few paces from the original burial place of Mary, Queen of Scots.

After the Selkirk Grace, guests will dine at tables of ten in the Cathedral. The haggis will be piped in, and traditional Burns recitals and toasts 'to the lassies' will accompany an excellent three-course supper prepared by the award-winning Dimblebee Catering Company.

Having done justice to that 'great chieftain o’ the pudding-race', guests can sit back and enjoy a display of Scottish dancing from members of the Royal Scottish Dance Society, before a dessert of 'tipsy laird trifle' is served.

Then, inspired by the dancing demonstration and guided by a caller, all are invited to join in the ceidilh, accompanied by the live  band. Dance the night away, or watch from the comfort of your table!

The evening will end with everyone rising to sing Auld Lang Syne and carriages are at 11.00pm.

Dress code: Kilt if you have it, or black tie. Non-kilt wearers are invited to wear something tartan as part of their outfit.
